Gs1100 wont start at first.

    Yes, definitely check the battery. A couple years ago, my '82 GS1100E began starting real hard. It would crank and crank and eventually wear down the battery. It was a weak battery. If it is your battery, when you pull plugs, you see wet plugs and perhaps assume too rich and start messing with stuff. If they are wet, means too much gas, eventually getting into the pipes and if it does catch, . . . backfire.

    As pointed out above, try jump starting from a known good battery to isolate the battery before you tear apart or change anything else. If it ran fine without any changes being made and this just started occuring, this could well be the cause. Its an easy thing to isolate and move on from at any rate.
