muffler questions

I just had to have the short pipe replaced between the collector pipe (where each side goes from two into one), and the muffler. I noticed that at the rear of each megaphone there's a screw, presumably to restuff the muffler material. It looks like ther's only fiberglass matting stuffed into the insert that came from the factory. Has anyone replaced this? I don't want the howling exhaust notes of the hyperbikes or to sound like a Harley. I like to sneak up nice and quiet on my victims. But seriously, I'm looking for a low dollar solution to muffler replacement. Any takers? Thanks to all, I learn something new everyday here!!

Remove the baffel from the exaust, and cut a piece of screen wire, like from a screen door, to fit around the baffel. attach the screen to the baffel with 2 hose clamps. For a little quieter tone, use regular house insulation around the baffel. wrap it as tight as you can,around the baffel and put all you can on there. Use masking tape to hold the fiberglass on the baffel, while re-installing. The fiberglass matting will last longer than the house insulation, but the insulation is quieter,cheaper, and easier to find

what effet on the sound does the house insulation have as compared to the fiber glass stuff sold for mufflers

To me, it makes a lower, more muffeled tone. Probably because the house insulation is softer and absorbs more of the sound
