    Pingel petcock and adapter.....

Does anyone know right off hand which petcock and adapter I would need for my 1983 GS650GD?

I am wanting to get rid of the vacuum style that I have.

Will this cause any problems with the carbs with it being gravity fed all the time?

Would it be advisable to turn it off after every ride?

Anything else I need to know?

I am thinking of doing this mod while I am replacing the headgasket.

    Thanks in advance.

At the bottom of that page is a petcock and adapter plate that may fit your bike, measure the distance between hole centers on your gas tank.

I believe you should turn it off after every ride to give the float valves a break

If using the pingel you are supposed to turn it to the off position each and everytime you shut down the engine. Forget to do that and your next step is an oil change if you float valves don't stop the gas flow.

Because the Yammy has a manual petcock, I have the habit of turning off the flow. It is like second nature and most of the time I don't even think about turning it off and then on. If you get a manual, make sure you turn it off.

Pingel makes a lot of different styles, aluminum or chrome finishes. Go to their web site pingelonline.com or phone 888-4-pingel. They will steer you straight. Good product.

I was talking with Z1 Ent and they have pingle adapter plates, but have some other petcocks that are cheaper than the pingle ones - anyone used these customcrome petcocks? http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1744
