    I BOUGHT THE WRONG JETS

WELL I WAS GETTING SOME 115 MAINS FOR 1979 GS750L. I GOT THEM IN BECAUSE I ORDERED THEM. THE THREADS ARE WAY TO SMALL ON THE JETS AND THEY JUST FALL IN THE HOLE ON THE CARBS. I HAVE VM26 CARBS. I BOUGHT SLOT HEAD MIKUNI'S. DO THESE TAKE HEX HEAD OR SOMETHING SPECIAL. WHAT TYPE OF MAIN JETS DO I HAVE TO GET.

All my vm26 carbs use round type main jets not hex. But I have hex heads that fit into the tubes. Just make sure you order jets for the vm26 carbs and you should be OK. If they don't fit then you can return them.

tarbash: there you go typing in all caps again...
sorry you got the wrong jets.

i believe i told you before that the jets you wanted were called mikuni "big round". but noone listens to me anyways. maybe i should have typed it in caps...

i hear the big hex will also fit...

hae you tried to see if running without main jets at all fixed your lean condiditon?

yup, ask for large mikuni rounds and any parts guy worth .02 cents will fix you right up. I know we have a box full of em where I work. they should exchange them for you seeing as they gave ya the wrong ones in the first place.

and I tend to ignore the caps, I know when I used to post from a work computer I did the same thing on accident alot, as those comps always had caps locks on for the EPC. and I also understand that just because you have a bike, it doesnt make you savvy to forum etiquette. Im willing to live with that

well i went to a motorsports dealership which specializes in motorcycles and stuff today. its a big place around here for atv's, dirtbikes, motorcycles. i guess the guy was not even worth 2 cents. i told him i need large round jets in 115. he only had 117.5 and 112. so i said give me the 117.5. he shows them to me, they were the same thread size as the wrong ones i bought. i told him i need the large round ones. he said they were. but they werent. the guy had no idea what i was talking about. didn't even know what vm carbs were. so now i am still in search of jets.
