new hose clamps for the intake boots?
Has anyone tried replacing the hole clamps on the engine side intake boots with your garden variety home depot clamps? The stock clamps are too loose on the boots (since the boots are old and have shrunk, I suspect) and I don't feel like shelling out for new boots (I replaced the o-rings). I could also stick a little extra rubber under the clamp. The home depot clamps are too wide for the channel that they are supposed to sit it but I wonder if this matters.Tags: None

Yes, one of the guys here did it and the results were bad! The hose clamps cut the boots up. Don't use them.

OK, found the thread for you. Dimitri, make sure you read the entire first page to see the bad results. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ht=hose+clamps

You can buy new OEM clamps from Bike Bandit for about $2.95/ clamp. Worth every penny. Buy new boots while you are at it.Currently bikeless

Guys, those clamps are really soft. You have to reshape them from time to time thats all. Just straighten them and rebend as needed. If they look weak enough to snap then get new ones like Geoff said. I am not a fan of improvising with carb parts.
