    gs650 , some got roller bearings some not , why ?

    It seems the E chain drive gets a low pressure oil punp and rollers and the
    shafties get plain bearings and high pressure oil .

    Anybody know why ?

    Final drive section of the transmission is lubricated by engine oil, there is even a drain plug near the gearshift lever, and the higher pressure is needed for it.

    Since we can't have all the great advantages of a drive train we have to settle for having good oil pressure.

    Let the shaft vs chain wars begin.

        no , no war. I just wanted to know why. So the drive shaft is lubed by engine oil ? I heard the rear gear has gear (90w) oil in it ?

          Not the drive shaft, that never needs oiling (unlike the chain drive models) it is the drive section right where the shift lever is. Read about it more in the clymers manual.

            the secondary gear box is lubricated by splash action of the gears spinning in the oil.
            the presurized oil only feeds the crank, rods and cam shafts.
