Old gasoline disposal?

I just drained 5 gallons of real old gas out of my GS. Man it looked like maple syrup! Does anyone know where I can get rid of it?

Check with your town office. Usually most places have an "amnesty day" at the waste station aka town dump, where they will take all sort of dangerous chemicals for disposal, i.e. paint, solvents and possibly gasoline

I'd just dump it in my car. That's what I do with left over 2-stroke. Do about a gallon per tank. Should be fine.. or not

I normally run old gas through some sort of filter (coffee filters work well) then mix it in with the gas I use for the lawn mower (10% to 50% old gas depending on how icky it is). The mower doesn't seem to care, as long as it's not chunky!

It could take a while to get rid of five gallons, depending on the size of your yard. With our small yard and our cheap old $100 mower from Wal*Mart, I can only dispose of a gallon or two of unwanted hydrocarbons per summer. But if you have a bigger yard, you probably have a much more expensive mower you'd rather not experiment with...

And of course, if there's much water in the gas, you'll need to think of something else. Oil in the gas is no problem -- I use the leftover snowblower premix in the lawn mower first thing in the spring.

Whatever you do, don't put old gas in a car with fuel injection and/or a catalytic converter.

I did along similiar lines, except I used a milk jug and started a bonfire with the old gasoline.

My brother burned his old motor oil in a bonfire too...thankfully he quit that habit.

Just a thought you could take it to Texas and toss them out there. They wouldn't even notice a little extra fire. Would they????

Look in the yellow pages in your area and see if an oil recycler is available. They will sometimes PAY for waste oil, and they don't care if a little gasoline is mixed in with it. I dispose of a 55 gallon drum of waste aviation oil every 2 months that way. It always seems to have a few gallons of old gasoline it it. They'll generally come to your location with a truck and suction pump... empty every container you have.

Don't tell anyone, I spray old oil and gas on the weeds around the granaries to kill them. I figure it is better than chlorea

Every spring my town has a hazardous waste drop off costing 5 dollars per car. If you cant get rid of it store it till spring and drop it off at my place on the way to work and I will dispose of it this spring for you.
