    1100G top end on 1000E?

Can this be done as a bolt on swap? 1978E 2 valve 1000 engine with a 1982 1100G 2 valve cylinder/pistons/head. I am thinking that possibly with a little grinder work that this may be possible. Similar to an 850/750 or the 650/550. Does anyone know if the cylinder bolt patterns are the same? Do the 1100G engines use 18 or 20 mm wrist pins? Right now I'm just thinking out loud, seems like this would be a cheap way to get more displacement and modern carbs. Any ideas? Thanks, Ray

I could be wrong I think you are right about the wrist pins being a different size. the 1000 is 18mm

if I remember right the stroke for the 1100 is differant.

Wiseco does sell a big bore kit that takes the 1000 out to 1100 (3mm over bore)

The Parts fiches list two different cylinder heads for 2 valve 1100s. 1 for 1982 & another for 83-84. there's yet another head listed for 1000s. 1100 connecting rods are different from 1000 rods (I don't know what the difference is.) The 2 valve 1100 has the same dimensions as the 4 valve 1100 (72mm bore x 66mm stroke) & uses the same major crank components. The connecting rods are different for the 4 valve 1100 & the 2 valve 1100. 4 valve 1100s have 20mm piston pins. I'm willing to bet the 2 valve 1100 uses 18mm pins. The other things you'd have to check is the deck height of the 1100 block & the pin to crown distance of the 1100 pistons.
If everything fits, you'll wind up with 1054cc [72 x 64.8] OR.... you could listen to focus frenzy & get a wiseco 1085 kit. No case cutting, no pin issues. If you like, use an 1100 head & carbs.

You can do that anyway! Except in an all out race, my fully dressed 1100G has no trouble keeping up with both Domino and Ryan's 1000's and Joe's 1100e when we're carving up the twisties!!
