You have to get it rolling backwards down a minor slope. The 1 1/2" inch drop out my garage is enough to get the thrust if the sun is out. In the garage because there was never enough room to fall forward to let it down I always used a floor jack and then pulled the damned thing down with my hand:-D

Last week I came up with the perfect method\\/ I bought a "never used" new bike jack on Craigslist for $50 from a guy who must have had a double hernia repair from trying to use the center stand sitting still. Now that is wonderful and so very easy to use...up,down...up,down with my foot and not my back.

      I do what Earlfor wrote

Works every time for me. I weigh in at only 160 and have never had a problem. It's all in technique. It's important to remember to pull back while you pull up. That's what throws most people.

I roll the back wheel up on a 2x4 and then it's easy. I don't have enough counterweight in my butt to do it otherwise.....:-D

I can't resist getting in on another centerstand thread! Right hand, right leg technique. Do what you want with the left hand, but you might want to just rest it on the left handlebar grip. Once you step on the centerstand and make sure both sides are on the ground, the bike should be fairly stable.

            1. Right arm hanging straight down, hand on grab handle, palm forward.

            2. Right foot on centerstand extension. My knee will now be at a 45 degree angle.

            3. Straighten right leg while shifting weight slightly back.

I use no arm strength, but just tighten my right hand and right shoulder as the bike comes up. I'm 6' 10" and 164. Once a person discovers the correct motion, you wonder why it was ever difficult.

My first bike, Honda 175, only had a centerstand. I brought it home from the dealer and dropped it twice the first day. I took it to the gas station, and had the attendant fill it while I sat on it, because I was a afraid to drop it again. It wasn't until later that evening that a friend showed me where the grab handle was! I had been trying to use only the handle bars, or lean over and grasp the right side of the seat, both of which had me way off balance.

Ya, it looks like someone was really doing some searching, waaaaay back. :-D

But some things never grow old. Now what kind of tires do you recommend?

make shure your center stand is cleaned and well lubed. at 140lbs every one freeks out on how easy it is for me to get my bike up.
its shocking at how a little bit of sand and grit will couse problems.
