Will an 81 gs750e engine fit in my 81 gs650e frame?

Hi

I have an 81 gs650e that I have been riding for two years, and the engine recently died. I looked for a 650 engine but I could only find a 750. Does anyone know if an 81 gs750e engine will fit in my 81 gs650 frame, with little or no modification?

I don't think so. The engine is wider and mounts differently. You would have to engineer the chain line and I don't think it is worth it. You could pick up another bike easier and cheaper.

I think the 650 and 550 are based on the same dimensions, so that would probably yield better results, though there's probably minor differences. 750 and up is substantially larger in every dimension.

your options are to decrease to a 550, or shop around for another 650...

or just rebuild your engine
