Very small holes in the mufflers!
Erhhhh! Now that I have all the electrical problems labled and identified. I noticed that my wife's GS850L has two small holes in the mufflers! (One in each) right on the bottom of the connection between the collector and the muffler portion! Each is smaller than a finger tip. Can these be fixed easily? Comments welcome! Maybe some JB Weld will work?

I had the same holes when I got my 750. I used JB Weld, and in one hole (it was a little larger than the other) I used a little bit of steel wool and then JB Weld and it seems to holdup just fine. Might not be the prettiest fix if your looking at my bike from the ground up but then again theres not much that is pretty about my bike but it purrs like a kitten

Yep, try the JB Weld (with that and duct tape and you fix anything under the sun ), the addition of the steel wool or something else to help fill the gap, depending on it's size, is a good idea.
You might roughup the crome around the hole to help adhesion.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the comments.
Now on my "to do" list this winter:
Replace Stator and RR on the GS1100
Paint the fuel tank and side covers for the GS850
and now fix holes in the 850's mufflers...
Who ever said that idle hands are the tools of the devil, never owned a 20 year old bike

Re: Very small holes in the mufflers!
Gerry, as well as I can remember, all the bikes I have owned that had upswept mufflers had an aprox 1/8" drain hole in the underside of the exhaust in the location you noted. My 750 does also. If it appears to be a perfectly round hole, I believe it is supposed to be there.

8O 8O 8O Hmmm! I'll have to lay down and check it more closely then! They openings/holes I only felt with my finger when I saw the exhaust moving the grass below the pipes! Maybe they're just rusted a bit and I can clean them up some instead of patching completely shut! Thanks for the comment! I don't want to make a bad situation worse!
