??????? do you mean, stator/alternator on the LEFT side?
If so, then no, some had the alternator piggy backed behind the cylenders.
I know for sure that the Yamaha XS11 had the ignition on the left side with vacume advance for the ignition.
You have started me thinking, my Kawasaki voyager1300, has two stators and I have never bothered to see how they mounted them and the ignition pickups. (If it aint broke dont mess with it, and I have yet to find a service manual for it)

If I remember correctly... The ignition pick-up on my 1990 FJ1200A was on the left and the generator was also on the left but behind the cylinders. The generator on my 98 GSF1200S was in the same spot as the FJ, but the ignition was on the right side. This is a stretch because it was so long ago but I think the generator on my 80 CB750F was on the left side.

Don't you mean "If it aint broke you can probably still fix it and make it better!"?
My Yamaha has the stator and ignition pick-up on the left and the oil pump on the right.
