    Bent Handlebars

Ok I just went to the salvage yard and picked up a new pair of drag handlebars. When I took them off I didnt realize that the right side handle was bent slightly, I looked it over did not see any damage to the integrity of the metal.

I am going to bend them back by putting them into a vice then heat the part that is bent then use some thing like a pipe wrench and use them to bend it back.

Is the correct way to do this or will I only make things worse?

Thanks for all the help everyone

I would not straighten bars for two reasons.

    1. It is near impossible to get them right

    2. Fatigue may cause the bar to break ( and that would be painfull)

it is cheaper and easier to go to any jap bike dealer and buy a new pair of drag bars for 20 bucks. they are very cheap.....

I got a nice one on ebay for $15 and it was new. I would not chance repairing it as heat can make it brittle.
