They are probably the original boot. I'll have a look at them too. Thanks.

Get out the multimeter and your handy dandy repair manual and go through the troubleshooting section line by line. You'd be surprised how fast you might be able to find it.

It has to be fuel or spark, so you need to follow the trouble shooting steps. Check the battery, check for spark, etc..etc.. Disconnect the fuel line from the tank, check for fuel. Check the flow from petcock to carbs, etc, etc....

Who knows, you could have had a rodent nibbling on a wire somewhere or simply a loose connection. (Kill switch could have a fault, etc)

So, get out the multimeter, and grab the manual and simply sit down and go through it logically.

      Good luck!!

If my bike has been sittting for awhile and refuses to start for whatever reason, I will always at least try to push start it.

Full choke, no throttle, neutral, clutch to 2nd. I'll try at least 5 times before I give up.

The road I live on is flat. I'm pushing an 1150, and no one ever helps.

My wifes old 550ES was a buggar to start sometimes. It was part racebike, and part boxes filled with parts a friend could never finish.

Its always worth a try in my book.
          GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

I got the old girl running!!

I bumped into an older family friend how has had bikes all his life. I mentioned my problem and he told me he once had a Suzuki that would always do the same thing. To fix it, he would just pull the drain screws out of the carb float bowls then turn the petcock to "PRI" and flush the bowls.

IT WORKED!! Turned over about 5 times and fired right up!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Maybe this knowledge might help others out there.

I would suggest taking the carbs off and going throught them if thats what it took to start it.I bet it will run exellent after that and for many years to come!!
