How many milles before I need to retorque Head after rebuild?

This winter I've rebuilded the my GS 550L 82'(8valve)

Changed piston rings, changed cam chain and tensioners, laped valves, adjusted valve clearance.....etc.
Everything is done by the specs in Clymer manual...(torques,gaps,clearances)
After initial 100 milles I've changed oil and filter...

So, on what milleage I need to retorque head and check for valve clearances..?????

After one heat cycle!! to re-torque head gasket. Valve clearences only if they are noisy.

Do you only need to retorque once? Or should it be repeated sometime down the road.

I had to replace a head because of this, live and learn.

When I did my 1000S we re-tourqued at 500 miles.
And again at 1000 miles, so 1500 miles it was done twice.
Since then, 20,000 miles it's been done 3-4 times.
Doesn't hurt to check it once a year

As to the valves, if they're making noise, check them and adjust if needed.
