Okay, purchased a conversion kit from Moto-heaven at the link provided.
Guy called me up and said that the kit I purchased isn't for an 81GS750L.
The one I need has to be drilled for my particular rear sprocket pattern and is 30 dollars more. I still bought it regardless of the cost.
And he taught me a bit more about chains. I apparently have a LOOSE spot and that is what is causing the lurching. He directed me to look at the chain and rotate the rear wheel till I see the spot that is loose on the rear sprocket and sure enough, the links that are loose sit incorrectly on the sprocket and are about 2mm off from where they should be. So the Ratbike will be sitting till after the conversion for a week. At least I got a ride in to and from work today hehe.
