I,m new to Suzuki

Which book is best ??Clymer or Haynes ???

Clymer ::Suzuki GS850 - 1100 Shaft-Drive 1979-1984
Haynes:: Suzuki GS/GSX1000, 1100 & 1150 4-valve Fours, '80 thru '88

Have sold my Kawa GPz, bought a more relaxed style Suzuki.
(GS1000 L shaft)1981mod.

I prefer the Clymer books. They seem to have a more thorough explanation of things.

Get a copy of the factory manual if you can.

The factory manual is the way to go. If you can find one on E-bay they usualy go for 45.00. I was trying to use my clymer, and having a hard time. When I came to something that was specific to my bike. The info just wasn't in it. You just can't fit 200-300 pages of info into a little paper back book.

If someone you know has a factory manual take it to a copy shop that will ignore the copywright for you. It will also help if they give you a break on the price. 13 cents a page per side can add up fast. I got mine copied for 3 cents a side.

Hello, Iam also new to this forum.What I found to be helpful when I restored an earlier bike(yamaha xs-2) was to have both manuals,I found that if i was struggling with an explanation, reading the other helped and reinforced the lesson.
A small additional cost, but the price of not having to strip back down was worth it for me.

Since you have a G model bike buy the clymer.
The haynes book you listed doesn't apply to your bike.

I believe all the G/ shaft models were 2 valve motors So Clymer gets the nod. Clymer also has color wiring diagrams
