    Transmission Oil Leak

The bike is a 81 GS850L. The other day we replaced the shifter shaft seal to take care of an engine oil leak. Then we noticed that the transmission oil level was low, so we filled it up and washed the bike.

The engine oil leak is fixed, but the transmission oil is leaking out of the bike at the rear shaft rubber boot. There was also a little bit of water in the trans. oil after the refill. We tightened up the rubber boot, but it doesn't help. Apparently, the bike leaks most of the trans fluid, then doesnt leak once low.

My question is what do we need to do to fix this leak? Is there another seal we need to replace and how do we fix it?

First the eng & trans share oil. The secondary gear assembly has an oil supply uses 90 wt gear oil IF you have oil in the driveshaft boot the seal is bad SO you will need to remove the swingarm to get the beveled gear out & replace the seal

Thanks as always! So the parts only cost about $15 plus shipping. My next question is how hard will this be to replace? My friend and I can figure most things out with time and the right tools, but where would you rate this? Is it a quick fix, or oooooh boy?
