I went with a set off of my '72 Yam ds7, very close to perfect, on the Yam went the superbike bars, that thing handles, the Suzi is a highway bike when it gets done.

      bars

Went with superbike bars on an 80 850G and love them. Used a 80 1000S throttle and clutch cable and everything fit great. Also as was said in this thread you may need new mirrors. I went to bar end mirrors as these gave me the best rear view. I find this setup just right for me, at 6'1" it spreads my weight bewteen the seat and the bars just right.

Ive got the superbike bars on it now. But I want to be able to sit more up right to take some of the presure off my hips.

Guess a GS 1000 owner could do measurements for you... I was looking for less $$ bars, but liked the look of Flanders "GS-E Style" bars:

The Bikemaster LTDs seemed the closest $20 bars to those.

            Oops, forgot about Z1..

Guess I'm too into the handlebar thing

Re: Stock GS bars - There's a post by Pete GS to a "Replacement Handlebars" thread where he says "The standard GS handlebar is the one thing I don't like about these bikes but if you want one here are the stock specs: Height-4", Pullback-10" (!), Center Distance-4.5", Width-29.5"."

            Which seems to match these:

            http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=2109

and Flanders has a mess of bars:

            Good luck
