    igniter modules

Do these things fail very often? I just got done replacing the hub thing that stripped out in the rear wheel then three days later the 1-4 coil quit working swapped the coils around and the same problem occured, signal generator seems to be ok but after the bike runs for about 3 or 4 minutes the module quits firing the coil

Yep, sounds like a bad igniter. When they are old and they get hot, they quit working sometimes. For what a new one costs, you can probably put on a dyna S for less money. That will eliminate the igniter.

Most of the ignitors used a 2SD977 transistor could also use 2sd1120/2sd1162/2sd1353 as a replacement. Replace the transistors Check all of the solder connections..THIS is generic but worth reading

If you install the Dyan system on the GS's with the electronic ignition, does it still eliminate the ignitor. I thought this only worked on the points systems because the timing was also controlled by the ignitor box on the 82 and newer bikes. Any one know for sure??

Yes it does. You will have to get a mechanical advance from an older points bike. Then it will work.
