Carb Rebuild Q's
Hi Im a new member here just got a 80 GS100G with unknown mileage and has been sitting for almost 6 years without being ran. I have a problem with the carbs not running right I have a stage 3 KN jet kit with a Vance and Hines 4 into 1. the problem I have been having is not getting the low end power, the bike has a sputter and jump below 3500 rpms if the tach is right and runs quite smooth after I rebuilt the lower half of the carbs with a rebuild kit from partsn'more only the original float needles had a retaining spring to hold the needles from falling out the new kit had no retaining springs and the valves they sit in had no where to clip on the old springs. After replacing the old parts the bike is even worse and now will barely start and wont even idle if I dont slam down the throttle and keep the RPM's high enough. Is this new kit correct and will all I need is a carb synchTags: None

Your problem is not likely to be a sync issue. More likely you have plugged up idle and/or low speed jets. Take the carbs back off and make sure ALL the passages are open and clean. Then take a close look at the float needles and seats to make sure everything looks kosher. I'm not sure you need the float retaining springs - my 450 carbs don't have them and everything works fine.
Good luck.

Also, if you replaced the needles and seats with aftermarket parts, you'll need to re-set the float height. This is critical to proper off-idle transition -- +-.5mm makes a difference.
Um, you did see this, right? I believe your carbs are virtually identical.
It's the only way -- they need to come all the way apart so that you can replace ALL the o-rings and clean ALL the passages thoroughly.
The world's only known source for the o-rings:
1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

Oh Yeah I forgot to mention that it will not run without the choke being off even though It runs good with the choke on
