    carb putter

I've got a small putter or backfire comming from the carbs into the air filter box on an 81 GS1000G. I'm new to the mechanic world. What might this mean?

All the time? At idle, on acceleration, deceleration? All through the RPM range or just at certain rpm's?

Starts when engine is warm at idle.

        Intake leak?

Which could include any or all of the following:
Intake o-rings, carb boots, airbox/carb tubes, airbox

The sides of the airbox should be sealed with foam -- if the original foam is still in there you'll need to replace it with weatherstripping.
