    '79 1000 Front End on '83 750

How do I figure out if the front end from a '79 1000 will fit on my '83 T? I'm looking to upgrade to dual disks.

Would the mags from that year still be tubeless?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I don't know if you can swap forks directly, but assuming that you can (a big assumption) a couple of things.

'79 mags did come with tubes, but the switch to tubeless is no big deal, involves new valve stems. I'm running tubeless, no problem.

'79 forks are designed for the brake caliper that holds the round brake pads. These cannot be swapped out with later models and the round brake pad stuff is a little harder to find.

'79's came with solid rotors not the nicer slotted rotors on later models. Those however you can swap out if you want.

Not that much help, but that's what I know.

As long as they both use tapered bearings it's not a big deal.

I decided to pass on it. If I really need more braking power, I'll switch to SS lines.

        Thanks guys. Wonderful as always.
