    82'GS 650 problem

Great site first of all. I have a stock 82' gs 650 that ran fine last year but with a little hesitation on the highway when you went to full throttle. This year when i got it out of the garage and changed the plugs it wouldnt start, so I cleaned the carbs. when it starts now it wont idle except half choked, but you can take off on the bike and it runs good as long as you keep the rpms up with no choke. Ive read alot about the petcock mods about removing the diaphram and eliminating the vaccuum operation. Any info would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks "Gumby"

The problem with your bike is not the petcock, it's most likely with the carbs. The low speed jets are set down deep into the carb body and have VERY small holes in them thus many people don't get these parts properly clean. Try again with the carbs and this time make sure you take all the jets out and blow out the passages with carb cleaner.

    Good luck.

While you have your carbs off, replace your intake boot rings.
