    Final drive unit temperature

Hi, On my 850 I find that my final drive unit heats up pretty good. I can barely touch the aluminum housing after a 1/2 hour ride. The gear oil is new up to the right level. There is no noticeable noise coming from the unit and the tire spins freely. Does anyone else have the same situation or is this normal. Thanks Ted

The CB900C's are that way as well. Not sure if a trucks pumpkin would be the same way, but it seems that it is common on most motorcycles.
