    Oiling Cables?

    Lo all,
took my '80 GS750L out for a wee spin the other night, and both the speedometer and tachometer were a little bit erratic at times.

First port of call is oiling the cables, so the question is.....
what oil would be best to use? a thin household one like 3 in 1 ? engine oil?

    Thanks in advance

There is a tool that can be purchased to do the job. It clamps down on the cable, and has a hole that you can stick the straw in and inject the fluid.

I use chain lube and fill the cap at the top then let it get in fill the cap again, yada, yada, the cables are nice and slippery after three or fout repeats.

I use 5W30 and a funnel. Not very clean, but effective.

I've heard of guys using balloons filled with a little on and securing them to the cable then squeezing the oil into the cable.
