Mounting forks on GS550E
I finally started replacing the front shocks on my 550E. The old one came off easy. The problem is that the replacment shocks I bought from 8tracj have these large fork caps and I can't get them into place through the triple tree. What do I do??? I have never taken forks apart and would hate to either hurt myself or the forks if I don't have to... HELP!!!!2010 Honda VFR1200F

I think I am just going to remove the caps but my question is will the springs come out at me with force and what about the oil??? Do I have to use fork oil or will transmission fluid sufice and how much oil goes back in?2010 Honda VFR1200F

With no pressure on the forks the ends won't end up on the moon. If you are going to take the end caps off why not replace the oil. Not sure of your specs. Do you have a manual? Or I'm sure someone will speak up. There is a weight oil for forks and I don't think it's tranny fluid.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
