    Which tires to buy?

Which tires will be the best for a GS1100 '82?
I use it to go to work 1/2 hours each way. Which set will be the best for this bike?
I am looking for something reliable and durable, remember in Florida it rains every afternoon during summer.
    Thanks!

    Dunlop GT501 tires.
Very good in the rain, the down side?

They are sticky and with your hot weather will probably not last long.

    Or the Dunlop 491

Dunlop 501s are not available for your rear size of 130/90-17, so that's out.

The Dunlop 491, which is designated in alphabet sizes for some reason (MT90-17 rear and MM90-19 front), is probably about the best default all-around choice for any GS. They last about the longest of any tire (10,000+ miles in many cases) and grip well in all conditions.

You can get slightly better wet grip with a softer tire like the Pirelli Sport Demon, but you'll give up quite a bit of life.

The Dunlop 404 looks just like the Dunlop 491, has fantastic grip, and is much cheaper, but lasts less than half as long.

Maybe some fellow Floridians can chip in wth tire choices that last and grip well in mostly cornerless, frequently wet riding?

Thanks very much, I bought my bike with the Dunlop 491 and just wanted to know if I should buy the same or look for better choices. I will go with durability so I am sticking to the 491. Thanks again!

I have had good luck with 491s. Just bought a new rear from Motorcycle Superstore for $120.99.

I always used Metzlers but have switched to Michelin Macadams. Great tires with very good grip and excellent wear.

I am useing Pirelli Sport Demons. Great looking, rides like it on rails and very good in the weather.

I looked at them but I have another question. My wheel is supposed to be tubeless but takes tubes. This tire, is it tubeless? will it fit my wheel?
                Thanks!
