    Engine dies when hot

    Hello,
I Bought my cousin a 1983 GS650L last summer for his first bike.
I went thru it all and it ran great.
This summer when the engine gets hot, on the highway 55-60, the engine shuts down, off. Wont start back up until it cools down some.
    What should I look for?
    Thanks,
    Fil

I'm thinking that the coils or some other part of the electrical system has failed, and only shows itself when it's warmed up.

Or it could be running lean and then heat up when it has been on higher rpm for a while. What is he color (no kidding) of the exhaust pipes? Have then recently turned a blue hue? If so I'd suspect a lean carburation issue.

Old failing igniters can be heat sensitive.
