    Ring gap

Can anybody tell me the ring gap tolerance on a 81 gs 850?

    Top and middle rings-.004-.012 in.

    measured 1 in. down bore

Doesn't give spec for oil ring but I would say between .003-.011 would be fine

I believe that Wiseco piston rings recommend .003" to .004" end gap per inch of bore. Three piece oil rings (top & bottom wiper over spring center piece) should have wipers at same spec and ends of spring ring butting together. All gaps, excluding the spring center, should be positioned 180 degrees apart. Overlapping the ends of the spring center ring will hinder the sealing of the wiper rings and may cause smoking.
