    carb rebuild no help gs850

did the carb rebuild, bike started wouldn't run without choke, then quit and won't start, any ideas?? It shouldn't need the airbox on to start?

Put the airbox back on and try it again!:-D

If re-installing the airbox seems like too much work just to check the carbs, try this:

Hang a shop rag over the carb inputs in place of the airbox. Use tape or tie-wraps on the outer two carbs to hold the rag in place. Start the bike. The rag provides just enough restriction to simulate the airbox to see if it will run.

Just a word of caution, though...DON'T use this setup to fine-tune the carbs! The rag is good enough to get it to run, but it's not quite right enough to do the tuning.

With open carbs and without the airbox on, an 850 will barely run at all.
