Tach Stopped
While riding on Sunday, the tachometer on my GS650 stopped working. I have taken the cable apart at the cam cover, and taken a drill with a straight bit, and found the tachometer to register a speed. I then looked at the gear in the cover and found no defects. I started the engine, and the gear turns. But I put the cable back together, and the tachometer does not work. What am I missing?Tags: None

Yes, I pulled the gear out of the cover to inspect it. The gear, shaftg, and stem all look in good shape.

Kept tinkering on the problem. Found the inner cable of the cable had excessive fore/aft movement. It would slip out of engagement with the tach gear on the cam cover. I could push the inner cable in to engage the gear, and pull it out of engagement. Repaired the cable with a a small o-ring on the inner cable and lubrication. Works like a charm.
