1982 Gs1100l

All Of A Sudden My Engine Started Running Crappy. Popping On Acceleration Lagging On Acceleration With A Lot Of Gray Smoke Out Of R/side Tailpipe. Bike Is All Stock All Original With 2,900 Mi On The Clock. I Pulled The Plugs On Cyl's 3 & 4 #3 Was Fouled Wet Gas #4 Looked Fine. Checked For Vac Leaks Around Boots And Air Filter All Ok. Any Ideas??

Bike running fine, but then suddenly one cylinder (#3) too rich......

My first guesses:

1) Rust/debris not allowing float valve to close
2) Main jet might have been loose, came undone and fallen into your bowl.

I'm not a mechanic, but my 82 GS1100 had similar problem. Ran fine, then backfiring and loss of power, then fine, etc. Ended up being bad ground on rectifier. Might be worth a look.
