Tire Question: So I can't ride anymore?

Here's one I haven't seen: The valve stems on my GS850G point right at a crossing of the wheel spokes. This means there's just a couple of inches headroom for the valve and this means that straight inflation chucks won't fit.

They're tearing down the last gas station in town with angle ball-type chucks (and a white control box with a crank on the side for setting the pressure).

So now what? I can't get air any more? I've asked a bunch of people and nobody has any idea what I might do.....

Does anyone know of any angle adapter gadgets that I can install or carry? Or any other solution?

The people who mounted your tires should have used an offset valve stem. Go back to them and ask them to fill your tires.

At the heart of the matter however, it sounds like your wheels are laced incorrectly. The valve stem should always be between to parallel spokes, but maybe that's just bicycle wheel lacing I am thinking. MC wheels shouldn't be different.

It could also be that the valve stem is too long. Is it a rubber stem? If so you may be able to bend it to one side to fill it up with air.

          Tubeless or tubed??

If the tire is tubed then the tube has shifted away from the center in the direction opposite of the end of the stem... (happens on bicycles all the time)..

regardless of whether the tire rim combo is tubeless could have a tube in it..

If tubless.. the stem is in crooked... have the stem replaced with a short one..

          Just my $.02

              You got one?

No it ain't. Nor is it long, nor is it bendable.

Holy smoke, an actual answer....but do you think that that thing actually works for ten bucks???

Honda Gold Wings have right-angle valve stems. Might also need the braces that go with them.

Damn now you have to mount a cigarette lighter on your GS just to inflate your tire:shock: ! LOL!

This is the best I could come up with IF its a tube'd tire.

If its not I would think any tire shop should have a 90 deg. valve stem to put in.

                        A possible carry along adapter

You could put the following products together, from any air store, ie harbor freight, ace hardware to make a carry along adapter, is useful for those very long handle fillers at some stations.

I must have missed why you need to go to the gas station for compressed air....???
Nothin' at home to do the job? No electricity? Try this:

                            Ace hardware....$9.49

The air chuck circled in the picture(or the one above it in the photo) so kindly provided by ejmammo looks like the ticket to me. Maybe you could post us a picture of your tire stem
