          cases

Ummmm YES. Why cant u flip it over and take the lower cases apart. All depends what you are trying to mend. Any gear box related stuff you can do this way. Even crank seals.

I have taken the engine out and split the cases to replace a bent shift fork without taking apart the top end of the engine. You have to pull the clutch apart; there are a couple of brackets that must be removed. The start rotor can remain on the crank no need to pull it off. A word of caution, after you button up the bottom end and flip the engine upright be sure to pull the sparkplugs and roll the engine over several times to remove any oil that may get past the rings into the combustion chambers.

Yes it can be done, but you need to make sure the bottom area of the case/oilpan is clean. Cause if you have some juck, metal shavings, bearing flakes or whatever and you flip the case over guess where all that stuff is going to go. Yeap right up into the cylinders.
