oil leak
I just got back from washing the 850,, I noticed that I had a oil leak on the right side of the heads? Looks to be sipping between the head and case,, should I try to just tighten the bolts or am I in for a gasket replacement?
Thanks, RobinTags: None

You can try a retorque, but you are probably in the same boat as me. My crate sat so long that no amount of torque will seal it, it just has to be replaced.... when I get to it...

Last summer I was running down the highway at 125 kmph and noticed oil spray on my boots. When I got home I checked the bike and it was leaking between the head and cylinders. I then checked the cyl head nuts and had 10 to 15 lbs of torque. I re-torqued the head and no more oil leak. Good luck I hope this helps.

A re-torque generally only works if you catch the leak pretty fast. Otherwise I think the gasket gets saturated and no amount of torqing will fix it. Carry extra oil and wear leathers (oil seems to make a good waterproof coating ).
