Hye, just a thought have you replaced the spark plug wires, when i used to race mx, i got 2 wires straight from yamaha that when heated up lost all continuity. took me a while to find this out, Also, when it is hot check to see if you have proper voltage at the coil, im not familiar with the 85, i have a 78 though. I have points, condensers, and coils. If the coil has 12 volt, and the condensers are good, easily checked with an ohm meter, and the points are opening and closing, you will have fire to the coils, you can also check the coils with a ohm meter to see if there good as well. chack your grounds to the engine when its hot, if it is losing its ground it will not start. I hope some of this might help you, i am gonna find an ignition repair kit for an 85 just to confirm some suspiciona.
will let you know what i find
