    '82 GS1100E Rotor/flywheel interchangability??

    Need some part number help....
Need a rotor, (or flywheel as some say)....this part here:

Problem is...under 1982 gs1100 EZ/ED at flatoutmotorcycles fiche section they list two part numbers...item 3 31402-49310 and item 6 31402-49330. (See below) Same under the 1983.

The 49310 part is also listed for an '81 GS1100EX
And the 49330 part is listed for the '83 GS1100ESD.

I'm lookin' for a used part and need to know which one I need for my '82 or if they will interchange. Heck, even if I order a new part....which one do I need? What's the diffence?

    1. STATOR 31401-49310 (replaces 31400-49310) 1 163.68
    2. STATOR 31401-49310 1$163.68
    3. ROTOR 31402-49310 1$184.08
    4. STATOR 31401-09300 (replaces 31400-49320) 1 164.91
    5. STATOR 31401-09300 (replaces 31401-49411) 1$164.91
    6. ROTOR 31402-49330 (replaces 31402-09300) 1$156.15

    Thanks for any help,
    Bob T.

    Tricky question, huh?

How about this....What rotor will fit an '82 1100E?

Only an 82 or will other years fit?

    Mucho thanks!

Do you know why sound guys only say check 1 2 check 1 2?
Because on 3 you have to lift stuff....

I wish I knew the answer to your question, but I don't. The only thing I know about it, is that Bob Bertaut has fitted Katana 750 rotors and stators to some 1100's to lighten the crank, and make it rev quicker....

Bob, I think what they are saying is you can use either #3 or #6 but you have to use the stator that matches ie #2 and#3 or #5 and #6

Also the AlphaSports parts page is only showing parts #2 and #3 for a

You may be right and that would be tricky as i don't know what stator I have.

Another source I talked to feels the difference is the change to the big end crank, which he thought happened mid year in '82.
The difference between them is 25mm vs. 29mm shaft diameter behind the taper....

                      Thanks for help,

My 82 crank twisted in early 1983 and the stator went in 84. I think they were replaced with factory up graded parts (83 welded crank & newer stator.) That was a long time ago....Good luck Bob
