    GS250 vs GSX250 gaskets

    Hi All,
I have a question about a humble little 250. What are the differences (if any) between a GS250 motor and a GSX250 motor? Can I use GSX carby/cam chain tensioner gaskets on my GS250?8-[

the differance between a GS250 and a GSX250 is where it was sold.

in the rest of the world a GS became a GSX when Suzuki brought out the 4 valve per cylinder engines.
a 1983 GS1100ES in America is a GSX1100ES every where else in the world.
the X denotes 4 valve per cylinder, the little GS250 (in America) has always had 4 valves percylinder.

the engine parts are the same.

PS: those are trick expensive aftermarket wheels you have on your 250!

Funny you mention that. I was having closer look at them the other day and thought I saw the Yamaha insignia. I bought this bike about a month ago for $900 Australian dollars (about US$677). It looks as though I’ve bought a Frankinbike! Now I don’t feel so bad about replacing those hot dogs with the brand new (cough!) Harley Fat Boy mufflers I got on Ebay for AU$80 (US$60 – see photo). I think this bike is actually a GS400 frame with a GS 250 motor? It definitely needs a good clean up and some side covers. It also needs some minor engine maintenance (eg. Carby clean, cam chain tensioner service).

          They were cheap

          Hi U.P. Dragracer,
I only just noticed the bottom of your post. Is it a sin to convert gasoline into obnoxious noise through Fat Boy pipes via a GS250?\\/
