    Lost after head gasket replacement

I just replaced my head gasket and now the bike will not start. I followed the shop manual on the reinstallation of the cams but it sounds like the timing is off or the plugs are not firing. Before I remove the valve cover and start over and reinstall the cams.

Is there anything that I should check before I redo my work?

I had a similar expereince lat winter when replacing a head gsket on GS1100G. Wazz wisely counseled me that I may have my timing 180 degrees off. I was more than a little frustrated but followed his guidance and VOILA all was well.

I do not know if this is what you have but kind of sounds like it might be.

It is hard to tell as all the marks line up. It just so happens that they will line up perfectly 180 degrees off as well.

      been there. 180 degrees off

need to use the 1-4 timing mark, not the 2-3 mark.
