i lost my bike key while packing my house up for a 1985 GS750. Where do i find the key code to get a new one cut? Or do i need a new ignition tube.

On mine the code is behind the helmet lock. You have to remove it to see it. But I can't figure out what year GS you have
1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
    1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

If you can't find a key code a locksmith should be able to make one for you if you can give them one of the locks. That might be cheaper than replacing the ignition switch or a complete lock set.

If you only replace the ignition how are you going to get the gas cap off?

Helmet lock, two screws, take it with you to locksmith, baddabing-baddaboom you're done!

I know I've done it twice now.

While you're at it have a couple of spares made.
