    Caliper Rebuild Question

Both of my front calipers are goopy. If my understanding of what I am looking at is correct, each have two rubbery boot type things. On each caliper, one of those boots are disintegrated into a goopy black mess.

Is this something where I just need to replace the boot? Or could this be symptomatic of a larger problem?

    Thank you

Sounds like brake fluid got ahold of them which means a leaky seal. I do believe someone out there makes rebuild kits fro them. Try the mrcycle link I sent you.

The "rubbery boot" is the external dust seal. Once you pry out that seal, then you need to remove the piston. Inside the caliper bore, you will see the actuall piston seal.

OK, thanks guys. I think I'll have to buy two of those rebuild kits and buy new dust cover boots

I thought you ended up buying a new piston... where'd you find the kit?
