    GS750T Carbs

    Well I'm deep into overhauling the carbs... ordered my sync merc gages and have started cleaning.

    She is a 1982 GS750TZ... she was a rust bucket when I found her on ebay. complete repaint, and new this and that... big list.

    What I need help with is the "air screw"... mine have a plug over the port where it screws in... do you drill the plug out so you can remove the screw? or what?

    Thanks in advance. when she is complete I will post some pics... I think she looks pretty cool.

    PS I did a search and read a ton of post but couldn't find anything on this... sorry if I missed it.

      Nice choice in bikes.

      You can drill the plug but be careful not to go too deep as you
      might damage the screw. The technique I've read about involves
      drilling a hole and fastening a metal screw into the hole. The screw
      then gives you sommething to grab onto and pull the plug out.

      The plugs don't need to be there. Both my bikes run fine without
      them.

        Thanks.... what keeps the screw from moving? maybe a little blue thread lock tight?

            I assume you are talking about the adjustment screw under the round plugs (not the screw you are using to pull the plugs out).

            There is a spring which puts a little pressure on it and an o-ring. It seems that's enough to keep them from going out of adjustment. I wouldn't use locitite right there.

              No do not loc-tite them...you will need to adjust them when you fine tune your carbs, as metined in the previous post, the little springs put enough resistance on them to prevent them form turning.

              Those are the mixture screws, you adjust them while you are synching your carbs.

                thanks guys!! I got her back together and she would not even idle. and when you try to rev it up the throttle acts like a choke and cuts her off. thinking she wasn't getting gas I looked at the parts in the kits I got and found that one of the jets had a different number on it from orginal so I went back with the old parts...after cleaning them of course... and she runs better and will now idle, without choke. I'm hoping that syncing the carbs will take care of the rest. any input is greatly apperciated.

                        well... i'm getting there... I can't wait to ride this bic... it has lots of personality... i get my sync sticks tomorrow... checking my float level tonight.
