Ignition System
I have a 79 GS1000 with the Dyna Upgraded Ignition system I have no spark on the 1 and 3 plugs. These plugs are run from 2 different coils, what is the odds that the coils are bad? What is the best way to to test the coils/ wires? :?Tags: None

just swap all the primary (thin) wires over; spark will show on plugs linked to a good coil. Swapping the primaries will thus show defective coil. I suggest Dyna or Accel replacements.

I would check the spark plug cap. Un screw it from the spark plug wire and check the resistance or check for spark without the cap. If you have spark that tells you the cap is bad. if it is bad use NGK replacements
