Help! Valve shim adjustment tool GS1000E

    Hi Guys,
I am based in England and I am desparately trying to find a Suzuki valve shim adjuster tool (the one that holds down the valve bucket to remove the shims) for my 1979 GS1000EC. Does anyone have a spare one to help me out please? it is very hard to source spares in this country. Thanks guys.[-o<

I was able to make one from a flat head screwdriver by flatening one side of the blade (the skinny side) & then grinding the opposite side with a slight curve to rest under the cam, while the flattened side rested on the bucket that holds the shim in place. I basically rotated the cam around until the valve was depressed & that gave me enough room to insert the tool between the cam & the bucket (so be careful not to remove too much material) & then let the cam continue to roll around until there was enough clearance to use a pair of tweasers to remove the shim. It took a couple of tries to get the procedure right (as far as removing the shim) but once I has a system down, it worked well. Hope this helps you.
