    How much cylinder pressure?

How much cylinder pressure should an '80 1000G have. Mines got between 140 to 150 on all 4 cylinders. The motor is supposed to be stock with 32,000 miles.
That seems kinda high to me, is this normal?

That's acceptable. High would be over 165.
Have you adjusted the valves yet?
Tight valves would lower the readings

      ok thanks
No I personnally have not adjusted the valves yet- it a new "to me" engine.
bought for $150 on ebay and seems to run really well. The appearance of the engine is very nice for that many miles.
Just when I thought my 850 GLZ couldnt get any better, I bolted in a GS1000 engine.
It has the same beautifully smooth power delivery, but now it has MORE.

        Hi

Standard cylinder pressure is 128~184 psi.
        Service limit is 100 psi.

          Thanks Einar,
          I have a Vance and Hines 4-1, K&Ns jetted.
I see you have slotted cams and good coils with a big bore. Are these necessary mods- worth the time and money? Will the drivetrain hold much extra horsepower? I just blew my splines (26000 miles)- hopefully a new set will last another 20000.
          Any input is appreciated
