Head / Sump Oil Temp
Anyone done any readings of the head temperature and or oil sump temperatures during a run in say summer ambient conditions (80 - 95*F)

Actually the gauge I'm buying has a max temp of 325*F would this be high enough if the sensor was mounted to read the sump oil temp?

if you are measuring oil temps that will work.
running down the interstate mine slowly creep ed up to 210*f and after getting caught in a car jam running down interstate it crept up to about 220*f but came back down to 210*f after clearing traffic. this on my 83 without a oil cooler.
with the current cooler temps it only gets up to about 180*f
210-220 is where it should be.
I have done some infrared readings at locations around the head on my 80 but I failed to write the readings down, and I have slept since then.

Hey Thanks!
That's the data I was looking for.
I really should get me one of those Infra Red thermometer guns for the shop.
Just finished machining the handlebar mount in anticipation of the Digital gauge, just needs some more polishing in the tumbler.

your welcome!
ray guy thermometers provide hours of entertainment as you take temperature readings on the cat or dog you have going nuts chasing the aiming laser from the infrared temp gun!!!!\\/

What do you think the oil temp is pegged straight up ? I was riding in the city one really hot humid night and was shocked to see the needle up there. Do you think I maxed out the oil ?82 1100 EZ (red)

390 - 400*F I would think it was maxed or pretty close to it. I read somewhere that it got maxed at about 410*F
