1980 GS1000 turn signal flasher? HELP

I did a search on turn signal flahers and got a lot of results....but I still cant find mine. I upgraded to some short stalks and they don't flash.

Does anyone have a picture of what my flasher looks like....or describe it and let me know exactly where it is?

I bought a cheapo two prong flasher from Kragen autoparts....I just don't know where to connect it.

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks in advance!!!

It's under your left side cover next to all your other electrical components. If you look close, you can see where I mounted my round one. I put short stalks on, too, and needed to use the round one. I wire tied it to the existing post that held the stock one:

NO! Don't cut any wires. See the white plastic plug under the round flasher? it has two wires going to it. Unplug it from your existing flasher and plug in the new flasher. If you need a pic of the existing flasher, let me know. I have another GS1000 with it still on it.

For the 80 newer The 7 wire box is the turnsignal control module Just unplug it if it is not working. 79 & older need modifications. Flasher is under left side cover I think your 80 uses a 3 prong flasher ?. GET the electronic flasher at Auto parts

On my 80 1100 the flasher is directly under the fuel tank.

It's the small black box that says nippondenso on it. If it's like mine it should be a two prong like you see. Under the side cover on the left side, as you are sitting on the bike.

Is your 1000 a GT? If so, the flasher is under the seat or gas tank. Sorry for any confusion. I just looked at my manual and the GT is different.

On a related note, does anyone know how to disable the self-cancelling turn signals? Mine always seem to stop flashing at the most inopportune times.

Are you sure it's not a bad ground?
Lynn says to just disconnect it.

You need to check out Bruce's stable to really appreciate it. When the snow melts I know he will be ready for a GS invasion. (We can teach him how to type, too!)

In keeping with the subject of the thread, on My '80 1100E the flasher is under the tank. I'll need to think about that 7-wire component to remember what it's for, but whatever you do, don't start cliping wires.

The self-canceling sigs are controlled by an accelerometer located under the right side cover between the battery box and the master cylinder. It is designed to cancel the sigs after about 10 seconds, but only if the bike is moving. If you're stopped at at light or something, the sigs will not self-cancel. I wouldn't try to disable it.
