    Engine Reving on its own?

Well apparently I've done it again.. Angered the Suzuki gods...Here's the scoop can anyone tell me where to start looking for my problem (with the bike that is.. my problems are far too numerous to look for a starting point!)

My starter button hasn't worked on my 83 GS750ES since I bought it. The guy before me had an aftermarket push button hidden down on the frame.
Anyhow that quit working so I replaced it yesterday, but before I did that I took apart the starter cluster on the right handle bar to see if I could fix the original button. It didn't work and by the time I decided I didn't know what I was doing I had the throttle completely apart. I decided to put it back together and go with another aftermarket button and I reassembled the throttle and kill switch/starter cluster. I didn't like the location of the button on the frame like the guy before me had it so I decided to put it on the handle bar by the left hand mirror. I had to remove the gas tankand re-route the wires to the new starter button in the process and thought I had everything back together correctly but here's what's happening.

I couldn't get the bike to start with the button(it turns the starter motor but the bike won't start), but it will push start okay, but after it starts the engine would rev up to 6-7k and then drop back to idle and then repeat again and again with out me even touching the throttle? Can someone please guide me on where to start looking for what I did wrong? My initial thought is something with the reassembly of the throttle but I'm not sure?

    Thanks again everyone..

I just had the throttle cable connected to the wrong part of the handle, I guess? I just changed it and it works fine..
