    Gas in my crank case

I am trying to get my GS550t started and I am finding gas in the crank case. so I changed it and tryed to start it but it still wont start? and then to top it all off I have gas in my crank case again. so if you may have any ideas that could help me I would appriciate it.
    Thank you

bad petcock is letting gas flow into carbs, needle valves in carbs are letting gas flow past them into cylinder then past rings into crankcase.
petcock could be set on prime, that will let gas run continuously

Main problem is not the petcock but rather the float needles which are allowing the float bowls to overflow. Even of the petcock is working properly; the carbs are still going to overflow when the bike is started and the petcock sees vacuum thus opening the feed line.

One exception to my comment is if the petcock is allowing fuel to flow back down the vacuum line and into the engine that way. In this case, the petcock is the main culprit.

You Need to fix the petcock first and CLEAN the carbs, chances are the O rings on the needle seats are shot alowing it to flood. IT WOULD NOT flood the crankcase that fast if it was just the petcock

Do you have a slot or a lever on the petcock?

To change the petcock settings most petcocks use a lever. The 1980 petcocks use a slot that you change with a tiny flat head screwdriver.
